How I created more loyal clients for my web design business

I run a Web design firm, and I’m always looking for ways to provide better service to my customers. When I get a new customer, one of the first things that I have to do is talk to them about what they want for their website. There are an infinite number of directions for me to go when creating a site, and I like to maximize the chances that my client is going to like it when I’m done. Because of this, I need to conduct a thorough interview to make sure that the client can tell me what he wants.

In the past, I’ve tried to do this in person, but when I started working with clients outside of my area, this wasn’t really practical. Then I tried doing it over the phone, but I found that it really lost that personal touch that you get with doing things in person. At that point, I started looking at some different video conferencing products out there.

With video conferencing, I can conduct a meeting with a Web design client like I’m right there in the same room with them. I can sit in the comfort of my office, and see them on the computer screen. All I needed was a webcam, a monitor, and an Internet connection. We can then look at each other and talk as if we were in the same place.

Most of my clients that I have tried this with really appreciated the personal touch, and enjoyed the experience overall. For those who have never done a video conference, it takes a little bit of getting used to. However, once they get used to how everything works, they are usually pretty comfortable with the process.

As I noticed when I started looking around for video conferencing products, there are a lot of different types out there. Some are more advanced than others. There are high-end telepresence systems that make it seem like the person is literally in the same room with you by using HD feeds and other equipment. Then there are more basic setups that you can get too attached to your computer and use without the huge investment. It’s up to you how much you want to spend, and they all have different levels of quality that you can take advantage of. If you’re in the market, do a little bit of shopping around and find the products that work best for your business.
